Dear Academy

I remember fingers in my hair,

silly boy.

I remember grief, sadness and fear.

I remember anger being replaced with humility,

after one kind gesture.

I remember the importance of curiosity,

for new stories, and the learning of new things.

I remember the importance of tending to the weight of living.

I leave knowing there are sparkles ahead.

And sparkles, have in my experience, always been good.

Sparkling water, kitschy glitter,

flirtatious eye makeup, morning dew,

caramel bubbles, rice crispies,

and a many more things,

an absolute abundance.

I’m positive.
