Sisters Hope is looking for a set designer for an upcoming international art production

The performance group, Sisters Hope, has been invited to manifest our large-scale performance format, Sisters Academy, in Agrigento, Italy as part of the city’s program as Italian Capital of Culture 2025. The manifestation will take place in September/October and we are looking for a scenographer who can be connected to the project as soon as possible. At Sisters Hope, we work to create complete immersive universes, and in close collaboration with Sisters Hope’s artistic director, the scenographer will be responsible for developing, planning and executing a visual concept for the manifestation that aligns with Sisters Hope’s overall visual identity developed over the past decades. Sisters Hope works with a continuous visuality and the concept must be developed in line with Sisters Hope’s previous manifestations and within the available financial framework.

Since the project is to be realized relatively soon, we are looking for a scenographer who can start as soon as possible. The work of planning and developing the visual concept will happen ad hoc towards the start of pre-production in Italy in September 2025. These preparations will include, among other things: include a 3-day venue visit in Agrigento (currently scheduled for June). In connection with the practical staging and visual transformation of the venue, the set designer is expected to work on location in Agrigento for 4 weeks in September/October 2025.

Practical info
The scope of work is calculated for a total period of 2 months with one month ad hoc for preparations, and one month pre-production over 4 weeks in Agrigento September/October 2025.

Applications are received continuously by e-mail to nikolaj@sistershope.dk, and we will hold interviews with relevant candidates on an ongoing basis. Fee by agreement.

About Sisters Hope
Sisters Hope operates at the intersection of contemporary art, activism, research and education. We are deeply rooted in interdisciplinary art practices and manifest our works in theaters, art museums, in public spaces and as interventions in other institutions such as schools and town halls. We work with a fundamental ambition to make the sensuous and poetic accessible both inside and outside the art institution. We do this with interactive performance art as a methodological starting point. Our works unfold different aspects of a possible future – A ‘Sensuous Society’. Sisters Academy explores the school and educational system of a sensuous society.
