Sensuous Governing is an immersive and otherworldly journey into the governing structures of our society. During the manifestation you will explore your poetic self – as well as hopes and dreams for a potential future society called Sensuous Society.

Sisters Hope’s Sensuous Governing has been chosen as a Danish signature show at Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year. They will explore governance in a potential future world that they term Sensuous Society in this site-specific performance running from August 4-20 as part of Summerhall’s Fringe programme.

As a site-specific performance Sensuous Governing is manifested at venues that represent the governing structures of our society. Through a poetic intervention aiming at awakening the sensuous and poetic they explore the audiences-participants’, or citizens’, dreams for the future of society. Sensuous Governing is an extension of their distinctive practice, which through artistic interventions unfolds the sensuous and poetic as core societal values.

Sensuous Governing provides a peephole into the expansive alternative universe of Sisters Hope exploring a potential future Sensuous Society. These artistic explorations are linked to Sisters Hopes concept of ‘inhabitation’. How we can move from temporary participation to more permanent inhabitation the arts. Among Sisters Hopes’ many formats the concept of inhabitation is very prevalent in their 5-year-durational and immersive performance Sisters Hope Home with an on-going access to the Sensuous Society.

Sensuous Governing
At the beginning of the two-hour long manifestation, the participant will be greeted by a performer – The Evoker – and led into the building blindfolded. The participant is then guided into the governing building led  by several performers. They will participate in small performative rituals in formulation of dreams for the future of governance and meet their Poetic Self. Afterwards, the participants ceremoniously donate these dreams to the Sisters Hopes’ Archive.

The performance is an intimate journey which only holds capacity for 12 participants a day. It will be manifested at the Danish Consulate (21 Walker St) at 3.00 pm daily August 4 – 20 (except on August 14).
