Open Call VISITING RESEARCHER/ARTIST/HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL in White Light Black Whole

What is the quality of the sensuous and how can it be explored? What is care and how is health? How can we develop new modes of being and being together? How can we inhabit art more permanently and take it beyond temporary engagement? What would a future society look like from the premise of the sensuous and poetic? What would the healthcare system of a Sensuous Society be like?

These are some of the questions of possible exploration as a visiting researcher/artist/healthcare personal/educator in White Light Black Whole. You will inhabit an immersive and poetic wing at Amager Psychiatric Centre at Amager at The National Center for Art and Mental Health. You will engage with Sisters staff (in the function of Poetic Caretakers), other visitings, daily users and healthcare personnel in an approximately 3-day period. As part of your stay you will share and facilitate a poetic encounter from your practice or research-question for and the other inhabitants. Please be mindful that Sisters Hope’s universe is analogue and you will store your phone and other electronic devices during your stay.

White Light Black Whole is in close collaboration with The National Center for Art and Mental Health, where the usual office space will be inhabited by Sisters Hope and will include a gathering hall, shared dormitory, kitchen, dining hall, archive and office. The manifestation is the pilot to a longer collaboration and has the capacity of 16 bodies and in unison we aim to investigate, explore, highlight and live the importance of art and sensory experiences in an initial exploration of the healthcare system of a Sensuous Society and The Poetic Self as a new mental ecology.

In order to participate
Please send a letter of motivation of 500 words in which you describe why you want to participate, how the healthcare system is relevant as a framework for your explorations and how you would like to contribute. You must specify which of the following time slots that you apply:

I: September 24 – September 27

III: 30 September – October 03
IV: October 03 – October 06

Practical information
At White Light Black Whole you will get a bed in the dormitory and during the manifestation we will provide three vegetarian meals a day. You will stay at the venue for the entirety of your stay. All participants donate their in-situ data to our open-source Archive before departure. It is possible to copy your data before departure – but think creatively as Sisters Hope is analogue. It is not possible to document your own work by photo or film while at White Light Black Whole.

White Light Black Whole will be manifested at Amager, Copenhagen. If accepted as a visiting, you will receive an acceptance letter with more practical information by email.
