The Danish performance group, Sisters Hope, is currently unfolding the global and multiannual project, Sisters Sensing (The World) exploring the potential of the sensuous across continents. With the project we are unfolding and exploring what connects us as humans through sensuous and poetic encounters across continents, countries and cultures. This artistic exploration responds to the current state crises in a search for dialogue and connectedness across borders, cultures, and values. Created in a close strategic partnership with The Danish Cultural Institute the collaboration will unfold as an international tour which began in China in May 2024. Now the project will continue in India, December 7 – 18, 2026.

Sisters Hope is currently searching for an Indian or India-based performer to take part of the project in India as a Sisters Hope performer in a durational performance walk. As the Sisters Hope performing teammember they will be part of a performative manifestation in the form of a 12 – 14hour durational performance walk in the landscape of Kerala, India. The walk is performed by the artistic director of Sisters Hope, Gry Worre Hallberg, and during the walk she’ll meet with two Sisters Hope performers (with you being one of them) every hour to do poetic interactions as part of the walk. These ritualistic meetings are created as a healing session, and each performer will be responsible for facilitating 6 sessions during the walk with a length of 10-15 min. for each encounter. After the performance these poetic meetings will be streamed on different social media platforms as they are unfolded during the walk.

Training program in Denmark

As part of the preparation of the project the performer is required to travel to Denmark to participate in an initial training program. Travel period: from September 27 – October 2.  

From September 28 – October 1 the performer will take part in a training program preparing for the manifestation in India, facilitated by an experienced Sisters Hope performer.

Being a performer in Sisters Hope

As a performer you will develop your own Poetic Self and unfold inherent poetic potential. You will become a Sisters team member and be trained and prepared to step into the function of evoking in the manifestation Sisters Sensing (The World) – India. You will inhabit the Sensuous Society and be part of a performative laboratory to explore global connectedness.

Timeline

The performer needs to be available for the training program in Denmark: 28 September– 1 October 2026 (arrival 26 September, departure 2 October) and for the performance preparation and manifestation in India: 7 – 18 December 2026

Practical Information Sisters Sensing (The World) – The Walk

• The performance walk in Kerala will start at 04:00 in the morning and end at 18:00 in the evening. The performer needs to be able to take part in a durational work for the complete 14 hours and be able to walk around 20 – 25 kilometers with props packed in their carry-on bag as part of the performance.
• Together with the artistic director, the performer will co-develop and facilitate approximately six performance rituals for the SH artistic director who will be walking the entire route. These performances take place once every two hours during the manifestation (the performance walk) .
• The performer is required to be available and part of the rehearsals in Kerala in December and a few preparatory online meetings beforehand.
• The performer will be part of a photo session on the site in Kerala, India.
• The performer needs to be able to travel to Denmark to take part in the preparatory program from

28 September – 2 October (traveldates 27 September– 2 October 2026). The training will be facilitated at National Centre for Art and Mental Health in Copenhagen as a part of the durational performance White Light Black Whole in a shared mixed dormitory.

• All costs of travel to Denmark, lodging and boarding in Denmark, domestic travel costs, lodging and boarding in India during the project activities mentioned above will be covered by Sisters Hope/Danish Cultural Institute
• For the performance in India, the performer will receive an honorarium, according to agreement

The performer will take on the role and function as a Sisters Hope performer. The performer should be interested in and open to work within the performative framework of Sisters Hope as a Sisters team member trained in The Sisters Performance Method: Sensuous Learning. The performer will wear the Sisters Hope Evoker Uniform and represent Sisters Hope during the project. You will be expected to experiment artistically and the performer is urged to look into the artistic practice of Sisters Hope to see if it resonates with their artistic interests.
