What is the quality of the sensuous and how can it be explored? How can we truly inhabit the poetic and bring it into our daily lives? How can we develop new modes of being and being together? How can we inhabit art more permanently? What would a future society look like from the premise of the sensuous and poetic? What would the educational system of a Sensuous Society be like?

These are some of the questions one could explore if you seek to respond to this call as a visiting artist/researcher/activist/educator at Sisters Academy. You will inhabit an immersive and poetic boarding school manifested in the town of Agrigento, Sicily where you will engage with the present fellow students and Sisters staff for an approximately 4-day period. Please be mindful the Sisters Academy is analogue, and you will store your phone and other electronic devises during your stay.

About Sisters Hope
Our ambition is to make the sensuous and poetic accessible to as many people as possible – to ‘democratize the aesthetic’. Our work is based on an imagined future society – The Sensuous Society – where the sensuous and poetic form the base for all action and interaction. Out of the current ecological and economic crises, a new poetic society has emerged which our works have as their starting point.

Our work unfolds at the intersection of performance art, research and activism and intervenes into different everyday life contexts and institutions. Our performative manifestations are highly immersive and sense-stimulating and apply interactivity to create transformative encounters and create poetic universes.

Please send a letter of motivation of 500 words in which you describe why you want to participate, how Sisters Academy is relevant as a framework for your explorations and how you would like to contribute. Please include a 200-word biographical statement and send it to: sistershope@sistershope.dk no later than May 16th.

Sisters Academy will be manifested in Agrigento in Sicily as part of the cities program as Italian Capital of Culture 2025. If accepted as a visiting student, you will receive an acceptance letter with more practical information by email.

Practical information
At Sisters Academy you will get a bed in the dormitory and during the manifestations we will provide three meals a day. You will stay at Sisters Academy for the entirety of your stay. All participants donate their in-situ data to our open-source Archive before departure. It is possible to copy your data before departure – but think creatively as Sisters Academy is analogue. It is not possible to document your own work by photo or film while at Sisters Academy.
